Flowers at a wedding can be crucial. They can help to set the tone or carry out the theme for the event. But, it’s easy to go overboard. You can quickly spend too much money on flowers. Here are some things to keep in mind.
Make sure you know what the color scheme for the wedding will be and how you want the atmosphere to feel. Flowers can look formal or laid-back. They can dominate the reception, or just be an accent. You need to know what you want before you start looking.
Pick out flowers that will be in season at the time of your wedding. These will be the cheapest option. If you aren’t sure what they are, just ask your florist.
Before you choose grand, tall, and wide centerpieces for your tables, keep in mind that people may not be able to see each other at dinner. A large arrangement can isolate one side of the table from the other. And, smaller arrangements are cheaper!
Consider silk flowers. They can be less expensive than real flowers and they can be used again. If you have friends getting married around the same time, you may be able to share and reuse silk flowers.
For the ceremony, don’t go overboard. At your wedding, people will spend more time at the reception, so spend the bulk of your flower budget there. If your ceremony is outside, you may not need flowers at all.
Go for simplicity. A few beautiful flowers floating in a glass bowl filled with water can be stunning, inexpensive, and does not look cheap.
For the bouquets, go small. Large bouquets can get pricey and you don’t want to carry around a cumbersome, heavy ball of flowers all evening. When your dress is hemmed, ask the seamstress to save a long scrap of fabric. You can have the florist wrap your buoquet with it for an inexpensive, but fantastic looking touch.
